The Heart of Lalura
I am Lucía Ruiz de Aguirre Rodríguez , a designer and visionary in knitting. I trained in architecture and my path took an unexpected turn with the 2008 crisis in Spain, taking me out of the architectural sector.
After exploring fashion with my brand Peka's World and winning the award for best independent fashion designer at the Pop-eye festival, I found my true passion in knitting, starting with crochet in 2012.
My adventure continued with the opening of “ Cómo Molo ”, the first store in Galicia specialising in DIY sewing and crochet. After closing it in 2015, I learned to knit with two needles, specialising in circular needles. From that moment on, I dedicated myself to knitting pattern design and education, teaching techniques such as continental stitch, little explored in Spain at the time. Thanks to my innovative approach, I have trained thousands of knitters through online workshops .
I am the author of the influential book “Basic” , a reference for knitters around the world who want to learn to knit with circular needles, and six other titles. I have contributed significantly to the world of knitting, with a presence in haberdasheries and woollen shops in various countries and in international publications such as Koel and Laine Magazine. In addition, my experience has led me to be an independent consultant and collaborator in marketing strategies and product development for well-known brands in the sector.
With all the experience and knowledge acquired over the years, at Lalura I have channeled my passion for hand knitting to create a brand that offers not just garments, but a hand-knitted experience. At Lalura, we are dedicated to designing, knitting and marketing luxury garments.
Each Lalura piece is a testament to craftsmanship and commitment to sustainability. We strive to make each garment a lasting work of art, woven with care and precision by skilled weavers who share my vision of reviving and honoring the art of hand weaving.
At Lalura, we don't just dress bodies; we embrace stories, celebrate traditions, and foster a more sustainable future through every thread we weave together.
