REQUIRED SKILLS

To knit this swoncho, you must know how to knit and purl, knit in the round, cast on using the tubular cast-on, work German short rows, make yarn-over increases (commonly used for armholes), pick up and rejoin stitches, work colourwork, and bind off using the Italian bind-off.

Reading charts is essential, as the colourwork yoke instructions are provided only in chart form.

CONSTRUCTION

This swoncho is worked top-down, meaning it starts at the neckline, continues through the yoke, then sleeves and body are separated, and the body is worked in the round. The sleeves are then picked up and worked in the round to the cuffs.

It is knitted in one piece, seamless, in stockinette stitch in the round, with a colourwork motif on the yoke. The body and sleeves finish with ribbed edges.
