PRIOR KNOWLEDGE
To knit this swoncho, you need to know how to knit and purl, knit in the round, cast on stitches using the tubular method, knit German short rows, make increases (usually used for armholes), pick up and resume stitches, colourwork technique, and bind off stitches using the Italian method. It is essential to be able to read charts, as the instructions for knitting the colourwork motif of the yoke are given only in chart form.
CONSTRUCTION
This swoncho has a top-down construction, meaning it starts knitting from the neckline, continues through the yoke, then separates the sleeves and body, and continues knitting the body in the round. Next, the sleeves are picked up and knitted in the round to the cuff. It is made in one piece, without any seams. It is knitted in circular stockinette stitch, with a colourwork motif on the yoke. The body and sleeves finish with a ribbed trim.
