PRIOR KNOWLEDGE
To knit this swoncho, you need to know how to knit knit and purl stitches, knit in the round, cast on stitches using any method (though the long-tail method is recommended), knit German short rows, make increases in the air (typically used for armholes), pick up and resume stitches, the cable or braid technique, and bind off stitches. It is essential to be able to read charts, as the instructions for knitting the cable motif on the yoke are given only in chart form.
CONSTRUCTION
This swoncho has a top-down construction, meaning it starts by knitting from the neckline, continues through the yoke, then the sleeves and body are separated, and the body is continued knitting in the round. Next, the sleeves are picked up and knit in the round to the cuff. It is made in one piece, with no seams. It is knit in stockinette stitch in the round, with a very simple cable motif on the yoke. The body and sleeves finish with a ribbed trim.
