- ABOUT THE GARMENT
PRIOR KNOWLEDGE
To knit this swoncho, you need to know how to knit knit and purl stitches, knit in the round, cast on stitches using any method (although the long-tail method is recommended), make airborne increases (those normally used for armholes), pick up stitches, the cable or braid technique, and bind off stitches. It is essential to be able to read charts, as the instructions for knitting the yoke's cable pattern are given only in chart form.
CONSTRUCTION
This swoncho has a top-down construction, meaning it starts by knitting the neckline, continues with the yoke, then the sleeves and body are separated, and the body continues to be knitted in the round. Next, the sleeves are picked up and knitted in the round to the cuff. It is made in one piece, without any seams. It is knitted in stockinette stitch in the round, with a very simple cable pattern on the yoke. The body and sleeves finish with a ribbed trim.
