- ABOUT THE GARMENT
PRIOR KNOWLEDGE
To knit this swoncho, you need to know how to knit knit and purl stitches, knit in the round, cast on stitches using any method (though the long-tail cast-on is recommended), make make-one increases (commonly used for armholes), pick up and resume stitches, the cable knitting technique, and bind off stitches. It is essential to be able to read charts, as the instructions for knitting the yoke's cable pattern are provided only in chart form.
CONSTRUCTION
This swoncho has a top-down construction, meaning it is started by knitting the neckline, continuing with the yoke, then separating the sleeves and body, and continuing to knit the body in the round. Afterwards, the sleeves are picked up and knitted in the round to the cuff. It is made in one piece, without any seams. It is knitted in circular stockinette stitch, with a very simple cable pattern on the yoke. The body and sleeves finish with a ribbed edge.
