- ABOUT THE GARMENT
PRIOR KNOWLEDGE
To knit this swoncho, you need to know how to knit knit and purl stitches, knit in the round, cast on stitches using any method (although the long-tail method is recommended), make backward loop increases (typically used for armholes), pick up and re-knit stitches, the cable knitting technique, and bind off stitches. It is essential to be able to read charts, as the instructions for knitting the cable motif on the yoke are provided only in chart form.
CONSTRUCTION
This swoncho has a top-down construction, meaning it is started by knitting the neckline, then the yoke is continued, followed by separating the sleeves and body, and the body is continued by knitting in the round. Next, the sleeves are picked up and knit in the round down to the cuff. It is made in one piece, with no seams. It is knit in circular stockinette stitch, with a very simple cable motif on the yoke. The body and sleeves finish with a ribbed trim.
