PRIOR KNOWLEDGE

To knit this top/vest, you need to know how to knit knit stitches, purl stitches, knit in the round, make decreases, the long-tail cast-on, the Italian bind-off, and the Kitchener stitch technique.

CONSTRUCTION

This is a bottom-up top/vest, meaning it is knitted from the bottom up. First, the ribbing is knitted, then the body which is knitted in the round up to the armholes where the front and back are separated, which are then knitted flat up to the shoulders, which are closed using the Kitchener stitch method. A small trim is made on the remaining stitches for the neckline, and finally, stitches are picked up and knitted in rib stitch to finish the armholes.

Garment height from shoulder: 53.5 cm [21”].

Sleeve circumference: 40 cm [15.75”].

GAUGE

21 stitches and 30 rows for a 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4”] swatch in stockinette stitch, UNBLOCKED.

NEEDLES

3.5 mm [US 4] circular needles with a 40 cm [16"] cable for the armholes and a longer cable for the body, or the size needed to achieve gauge (unblocked).

USE AND WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
