ABOUT THE VEST TOP
PRIOR KNOWLEDGE TO KNIT XULIÁN
To knit this vest, you need to know how to provisionally cast on stitches, knit, bind off stitches, make yarn over increases (those typically used for armholes), pick up stitches, and knit flat.
CONSTRUCTION OF XULIÁN
This vest is constructed top-down without any seams. It begins by knitting the neck with a provisional cast-on, continues with the back, leaving the stitches on hold when a sufficient length for the armholes is reached. Then, the provisional cast-on is resumed to knit the neck part of the button placket, after which stitches are picked up at the shoulders, these stitches are then worked to knit the fronts, separately, but they can be done simultaneously, depending on the knitter. Once the necessary length to the armholes is reached, the 2 front pieces and the back are joined, and the vest continues to be knitted down to the bottom edge.
